Ulrike Zerzer works at the intersection of sculpture, space, and material. Her sculptural works are characterized by clear forms, a strong physical presence, and high craftsmanship.

The sculptures appear minimalist yet emotionally charged. Volume, posture, and surface are central – always with the aim of establishing an immediate relationship between the work, space, and viewer.

Material & Technique

Zerzer primarily works with ceramic materials and stoneware. Through a multi-stage, elaborate process, sculptures with finely nuanced surfaces are created, where traces of the craftsmanship are deliberately left visible.

Firing, glazing, and surface treatment are purposefully employed to create tension between calm and movement, between closure and openness. Each work is unique, convincing through its materiality and presence.

Form, Space & Impact

At the center are figurative and abstracted body forms, whose impact stems less from details than from internal tension and volume. The sculptures assert their space without dominating it, and unfold their effect in various architectural contexts.
