Birgit Wolfram transfers enlarged images of crystals onto the canvas with painterly precision. and thus opens a view into the light-flooded interior of transparent objects. Her works move between representational and abstract art. and address perception, light and depth.

Depending on the painting, the light changes between warm and cool tones. and create different moods. Wolfram is particularly interested in for the complex interplay of sharpness and blurriness as well as for the spatial depth that results from it.

Light, transparency & image space

Glass optics have been a part of artistic development since its inception. a central element of her painting. Crystalline structures are not used. understood not merely as motifs, but as carriers of light, space and atmosphere.

Precise color gradients and finely graduated transitions create pictorial spaces, which oscillate between clarity and resolution and lead the viewer into a quiet, concentrated perception.

Biography & Education

Birgit Wolfram was born in 1986 and left Germany at the age of 22. to study art in New York. She received a scholarship at the National Academy of Fine Arts and debuted the following year with her first solo exhibition in Brooklyn.

Exhibitions & Collections

Her works have been exhibited in the USA, Germany, Venice and Iceland. Works by Birgit Wolfram were exhibited, among other places, in National Academy Museum and in National Arts Club to be seen in New York.

The works are located in private collections worldwide. In 2019, Birgit Wolfram was the only female example. representing young German artists in Real Asset Magazine mentioned.
